Journal of Communication Media Studies
facilities Mission Statement

IUP's Journal of Communications Media Studies is dedicated to providing publishing opportunities for academic researchers, industry professionals, and Ph.D. students who have current and relevant information to share with their peers on a variety of communications related topics.

The editorial review board consists of faculty members and professionals across the United States as well as Ph.D. students in the Communications Media & Instructional Technology program.







Submission Guidelines
  • The Journal of Communications Media Studies is broad in focus and will consider articles on a variety of communications topics including (but not limited to) the following:  Mass Communications, Broadcasting, International Communications, Educational Technology, Speech & Rhetoric, and Organizational/Corporate Communications. 

  • Article types that will be considered include: academic research and evaluation, professional development for industry professionals, commentary from personal experience, and reviews of books, equipment or software.

  • All submissions must be original work by the author and may not have been previously published. 
  • Submissions should follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Fifth Edition).
  • Submissions should be sent via e-mail to the journal’s Editor, Dr. Kurt Dudt at: kdudt@iup.edu
Submission Guidelines
  • Articles should be submitted in English.

  • Articles should be double-spaced.

  • Article length varies on the type of article submitted.
      
  • Unsolicited manuscripts must be 5,000 words or less including the bibliography.  Book reviews must be 500 words or less.  Invited articles must be 7,000 words or less.

  • The preferred font is 12-point, Times New Roman.

  • Articles must have a title page that contains contact information about the author(s).  This is the only page that may contain information on the author(s).

  • All submissions should include a 500 word (or less) abstract which summarizes the article.

  • All submissions should include a list of five keywords that researchers could use as search terms to find your article in an electronic database.

  • All images, photos, and figures should be high resolution (300 dpi or higher).

  • The preferred format for submitted articles is a Microsoft Word file.  (If you do not have access to Microsoft Word, contact the editor for other options).

  • Book reviews must be relevant to the Communications industry. They should not exceed 500 words. Shorter papers are welcome. (We are looking for an evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the publication as well as any relevant new research content).
