Technology in Education [Lamberski]
This multi-year grant has produced a variety of products including the "Pennsylvania Technology Atlas" which has helped to shape how state agencies use technology. Dr. Lamberski is currently involved in Homeland Security efforts within the Commonwealth, which may lead to a research model based on the design of the Link to Learn and the Governor’s Office of Technology initiatives

NSF [Peard and Judi Hechtman]
The grant is looking at ways to infuse constructivist approaches to science and mathematics teaching in an attempt to meet national standards. This is a partnership among the State System Universities and includes local teams consisting of public school and Junior College faculty and students from the universities.

Praxis Preparation Project [M Rafoth]
This program will help students prepare for the PRAXIS I exam through a computerized program, a variety of workshops, and tutorials for each section of the test.

Continuation of  PT3 [Yost and Dudt]
The PT3 grant was granted a no cost extension until May 2003. This will allow us to complete our objective of enhancing field studies with technology including web-based video conferencing, WebCT, video, and electronic portfolios.

SSHE Social Equity [Baker/Jackson]
A grant that provides a summer workshop for high school students with learning disabilities to learn about higher education opportunities and also gives our undergraduates an opportunity for some pre-student-teaching experiences

ETEN International Education Project [Vold/Bieger]
This is a FIPSE grant between IUP, Georgia State, Texas Christian, Malmoe Univ. (Sweden), Liverpool College (England), and Gronigen Univ. (Netherlands). This 3-year grant is designed to increase student mobility and promote faculty exchanges.

• NICE will provide correctional institutions:
Comprehensive program of professional education and development
Clearinghouse for educational resources and research
Model curricula for correctional education

College Action Items Continued
Provide a long-term plan for organization and financing of Professional Development Schools and other collaborative ventures
Develop and implement a plan to reduce the undergraduate programs to the SSHE mandated 120 semester hours
Continue to develop the activities of the office of Special Projects Development Center
Provide for a college-wide focus for our graduate programs
Action Plans for College Technology Equipment and Training
Complete the college-wide technology plan
Continue to increase the number of “technology classrooms”
Continue to offer at least 10 technology workshops for faculty and staff each semester
Continue to assist departments and faculty with development and updates of web pages
Obtain grant funding for wireless classrooms
Obtain grant funding for observation rooms for Counseling and Educational and School Psychology
Replacement of Faculty Computers (3-year cycle)
Electronic Portfolios
Portfolio templates have been revised and are now based on the INTASC principles
More than 25 workshops for faculty and students have been offered
COMM 103 and other classes are preparing students to develop their electronic portfolios
The Portfolio file server is fully operational
The Portfolio Assistance Center is operational
Some faculty still need to require students to create artifacts for their electronic portfolios and advisors need to review student progress with their portfolios
Technology Support in the Classrooms
6 computer projection systems were added into classrooms in 2001-2002
9 computer projection systems were added into classrooms in summer 2002
Wireless mice are being added for classrooms with projection systems
New technology podiums in classrooms with projection systems are being added
Technology Support in the Labs
Davis Lab was converted from a “University Lab” to a “College Lab”
43 new computers, all with CD burners and DVD players have been installed in the Davis Lab
Portfolio Assistance Center (formerly Incubator Lab) was moved to Davis 127 – 21 new computers with CD burners, DVD players and video editing equipment
New graphics software for the Graphics Lab will be installed this fall semester
Technology Support in the Labs
Other Technology Enhancements
Upgrade to WindowsXP and OfficeXP for labs and faculty computers is in progress
Portfolio Server is now fully operational
Project Directory (to assist development of electronic portfolios) is now fully operational
Upgrades for file servers are in progress
WIUP-FM and WIUP-TV stations were upgraded to digital systems
Observation Room system is being installed for Special Education
