GENERAL OVERVIEW |
Students from Indiana University of Pennsylvania who are enrolled as teacher
education majors in all certification areas are eligible to participate in this
half-semester student teaching program. Students are assigned to a teaching
site in the
DATES: Students participate in this program during the semester in which they register to student teach, either in the fall or the spring.
ELIGIBILITY: Students wishing to take part in this program must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. A GPA of 3.0 in the professional core subjects and the major are also required. The student teacher must demonstrate competency in effective classroom teaching practices, receiving a grade of not less than a B in the mid-semester evaluation. Upon approval of the university supervisor, the overseas student teaching assignment is confirmed.
PROGRAM COST: In addition to semester tuition and other required fees, students must pay a study abroad fee of $500.00. Travel costs, personal expenses, and living accommodation costs for room and board (paid to the host family) are the responsibility of the student.
LIVING ACCOMMODATIONS: Living accommodations which include room and board are arranged with host families near teaching sites. Living accommodations in the various countries differ greatly; however, most of the student teachers live with native families. Living with families in foreign countries provides student teachers a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture of the host country.
