HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM

The international student teaching program began in 1987 in London, England.  Four students were enrolled during the first year.  Since that time, the program has grown from one international site to seven sites in six different countries.  The student participation averages 35 students per year, with placements made in all certification areas.

In addition to expanding international student teaching sites, promotional activities for the program are under way.  A student handbook detailing student responsibilities and considerations while participating in the program has been developed.   You can view a PowerPoint presentation that that has been presented at national and international conferences, and video tapes of students teaching at each international site are being developed to help you understand the program.

New international sites may be added to this program in Frankfort, Germany; Barcelona, Spain; and Kingston, Jamaica.
