Research Focus
I'm interested in virtual worlds as media and educational technology. I am currently conducting studies related to participant profiles in graduate education, distance learning, and virtual worlds. My Second Life avatar is Eight Shepherd.

Teaching Focus
I teach courses in educational & instructional technology, distance education, communications research, and media theory.

Community Focus
As the Dean's Associate in the School of Graduate Studies and Research, I assist other faculty in developing graduate curriculum. As Co-coordinator of the ComMIT PhD, I assist faculty and students in our doctoral program. As a Second Leutenant in Squadron 714 of the Civil Air Patrol, I participate in search and rescue missions for missing persons and missing air craft. My wife and I are members of Bethany Chapel in Marion Center, Pennsylvania.
