c. Tech Support Web Page - Reminder of the COE tech support web page located at http://www.coe.iup.edu/techsupport/ which can also be reached from the COE main web page. This has information on technology within the COE as well as on-line equipment and lab schedules. This page should also be used to submit any technology request/problems electronically.

d. Technology Committee Web Page - Brad will work on creating a web page for the technology committee which will have information that the committee is working on as well as meeting agendas and minutes.

e. Department Web pages - Every department should be reviewing their web pages for accuracy. 2. University Wide Technology Overview

a. Microsoft Campus Agreement - The University is part of an agreement between Microsoft and the State System that allows many of the Microsoft desktop products to be loaded on University machines without additional cost to the individual departments. The agreement also allows users to load this software on home machines for work purposes. The software products included in the agreement are:

        MS Office
        MS Front Page
        MS Publisher
MS Visual Studio (primary programming languages)
        MS Network Client License

If you are interested in loading these products at home please see Brad Smith to sign out the software media. Please be advised that support of home PC's is not the responsibility of the COE technology staff.

b. Student NT Network Authentication - Beginning September 1999, the University is providing NT network usernames to students. This is the first step in the process of providing NT network services to the students. In January 2000 students will be given a "home" directory of 20MB so they can store computer files using the network.

c. IUP Gopher Service - The TSC would like to remove the Gopher Internet service from the VMS system. This system has become outdated and most of the information on this system is old and outdated and has been replaced by WWW sites.

ACTION: The COE Tech Committee supports the removal of the Gopher service. This will be reported back to the TSC by Brad Smith.
